Therapeutic Approaches

I draw on several evidence-based approaches, tailoring each session to what works best for you.

Integrative Counselling

Rather than following a single rigid model, integrative counselling combines the most effective elements from different therapeutic traditions. This means your therapy is shaped around you - your personality, your experiences, and your goals. It's a flexible, responsive approach that evolves as you do.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT focuses on the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. By identifying unhelpful thinking patterns, we can work together to challenge them and develop healthier ways of responding to life's challenges. It's a practical, structured approach that gives you tools you can use every day.

Person-Centred Therapy

This approach places you at the centre of the therapeutic process. In a warm, empathetic, and accepting environment, you set the pace and direction. There's no agenda imposed on you - instead, it's about creating the right conditions for you to explore your feelings and find your own answers.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Sometimes our present difficulties are rooted in past experiences. Psychodynamic therapy gently explores how earlier life events and relationships may be influencing how you feel and behave today. By bringing these patterns to light, we can work towards lasting, meaningful change.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing)

EMDR is an evidence-based therapy particularly effective for trauma and PTSD, and I'm proud to offer EMDR in Fermanagh from my practice in Enniskillen. It uses guided eye movements to help your brain reprocess distressing memories, reducing their emotional intensity. Many people find significant relief in a relatively short time. I'm trained to the EMDR Europe Standard.

What to Expect

If you've never been to counselling before, it's natural to feel unsure. Here's what you can expect.

Your First Session

The first session is about getting to know each other. We'll talk about what's brought you to counselling, what you'd like to achieve, and I'll explain how we might work together. There's no pressure - it's simply the beginning of a conversation.

Session Format

Each session lasts approximately 50 minutes. We'll meet regularly - usually weekly - to build momentum and maintain a consistent therapeutic relationship. The number of sessions depends on your individual needs.

How We Meet

I offer sessions in the format that suits you best:

  • Face-to-face - at my Enniskillen practice
  • Online - via Zoom from the comfort of your own space
  • WhatsApp - video or voice calls for added flexibility

Fees

£50 for a 1 hour session. Payment is made at the time of each session. I believe quality mental health support should be accessible, and I'm happy to discuss any concerns you might have.
